Nefertiti’s Ring is a computationally generated piece of jewelry that translates the jazz composition Nefertiti by Miles Davis into physical form. The project explores the transformation of sound into matter, converting musical information into a three-dimensional geometry through custom digital workflows.
Melodic and rhythmic patterns are analyzed and encoded as spatial relationships, generating a continuous structure whose form is directly informed by the composition. The resulting ring materializes an ephemeral auditory experience into a wearable object, creating a tangible record of a musical performance.
Positioned between music, computation, and ornament, Nefertiti’s Ring investigates how data can become material, expanding the possibilities of jewelry as a medium for preserving, interpreting, and experiencing information.
