The Metropol Chair is a seating design conceived as a hybrid assembly of steel and wood, leveraging the possibilities of computational design to create a dialogue between material systems and form. The project explores the collision of two soft, blob-like geometries developed in contrasting materials and connected through opposing assembly logics. A geometric grid acts as a common language between both elements, linking the fluid expression of the steel structure with the smooth wooden surface of the seat.
Through a gradual morphological transformation, the seat extends beyond its primary function to become an integrated side surface for placing a cup of coffee or personal objects. By combining digital design methodologies with material-specific fabrication strategies, the Metropol Chair investigates how distinct construction systems can converge into a single continuous and cohesive spatial object.
